ran

to get a sabich, people queue up for more than 45 minutes. whether it's raining, dusty or hot. they love it.

it all started as our brainchild and grew to a multidisciplinary challenge. in summer 2016, we had the idea to build a food stand and offer delicious israeli food at the haldern pop festival.

we realized the project with many good friends, among them architects, craftsmen, designers and hobby chefs. it ended up being a lot of work but even more fun.

building a temporary structure meant using a simple and modular system. offering food meant working truthful and transparent. we ended up with a simple rule: 1x1 m. based on this system, we experimented with wood and calculated the perfect square for our usage. for the transparent skin we used thick, translucent foil.

the flexibility of this system gives us the opportunity to build a food stand today, a popup-store tomorrow and maybe one day a temporary club.

the food stand itself is called „ran“, after a very good friend from israel. coincidentally, the day the festival started, ran celebrated his birthday in israel – and the food stand was our little birthday surprise for him.

we offered „sabich“ and „tabouleh salad“, which are both very delicious vegetarian meals, and without the egg, it’s even vegan.
