buch , laden ruthmann

novels, guides, cookbooks, crime novels and gifts – a small book store combining tradition and a new open-minded thinking.

with a new sale concept after a change of owners in the beginning of 2016, we designed a new visual identity for ‘buch, laden ruthmann’. the concept integrates the idea of being not just a bookstore but rather a bookstore with fancy goods.

the challenge was to modernise but not overdo it in order to still appeal to young families and older people. the store is in the middle of a small village close to mainz and a meeting point for all generations.

the logo shows the name game “buch, laden” – a book and a store respective a house. in the lettering, we kept the name of the previous owner “ruthmann” so that everybody recognizes that not everything changed and that you can still find the tried and trusted in the store.
